A layout for Riddersholm Designs and 1 more Video Tutorial!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well.

Today I wanted to show you a special layout I created for Riddersholm Design for September. This is the first time I have scrapped a photo of myself during my recent pregnancy. I do not have many photos of my pregnant self and it was for this reason I decided 2 weeks before I gave birth to push myself to look half decent and go up the local park and take some shots LOL. I was 38 weeks along here,  and this was actually Mother's Day 2013 and I was so anxious for the safe delivery of my baby. I remember everything very clearly and this is one of the reasons I had not wanted to go there yet with my scrapping.... I really have not been ready to scrap those emotions yet.

But the gorgeous purple of the Chantilly Dawn collection , together with the soft neutrals of some other Riddersholm Design papers forced me to use this photo which had a purple colour in it.

Stephanie Schutze for Wiff Of Joy Blog Hop!!

Hello everyone!! I am so excited to take part in this awesome blog hop for the VERY talented Stephanie Schutze , who blows me away each time with her creations and has now designed some stamp sets for Wiff Of Joy

This is one of the stamp sets Stephanie has created and the one I used to create some projects with
"Spirit of Nature" stamp set designed by Stephanie Schutze

Now here are my creations using these gorgeous stamps.

First up is this card, and I decided to use the stamps in a messy way as a background. I also stamped the images and heat embossed them and you can see them in the background in a soft pink.

To start with, I prepped a Strathmore Mixed Media card with Gesso. I then stamped the images of the Spirit Of Nature stamp with embossing ink and heat embossed them with light pink embossing powder.

I then used an UmWOwStudio Circle Confetti Mask with 13arts Ayeeda Modelling Paste and Yellow Lemon Chalk Ink  to create the circles you can see on the card.

Then in a very random way, I used my fingers to apply Thick Gesso to give it it more texture around the edges especially and then applied 13arts Glass Filler  for a grainy effect.

Following that, I stamped the images from the stamp once again with Archival black ink before going over the whole background lightly with Gesso. Lastly, I applied 13arts Pink Ink and let it drip down the length of the card and added more colour using my finger tips and 13arts Coral paint.

Now here is my second project, an altered cover of my notebook.

I just purchased this for a few dollars last weekend and it had a pretty canvas cover. The size of it is about 25cm x 15cm and I bought it to write in ALL my scrappy stuff.. DT commitments, notes to remember etc etc. Without this I would be lost LOL!

So because this is something I use everyday, and I open and close and write in everyday it needed to have a flat surface on the cover as it would not be very practical to write in if it was bulky.

So all I did here, is apply a couple of coats of Gesso to the front cover and then stamped the images from the Spirit of Nature in a very random way in the middle of the cover. I then proceeded to colour in some of the images using Faber Castell Art Grip Aquarelles in Red in random places. Now you must forgive the fact the coloured images do not look perfect... this is indeed one of the first times I have worked with watercolours, but I really wanted a messy, arty look rather than a perfect and crisp finish. :)

To finish with, I sprayed 13arts Ayeeda Turquoise Light Chalk mist and finished the edges with 13arts Ayeeda Paint in Yellow using my fingers and a little water. I sealed the cover using a matte gel.

Here are all the blog hop participants! I encourage you to visit them and see just how they used the above stamp set on their creations.

A layout for Marion Smith Designs using Nirvana!

Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a layout I created with the Nirvana collection by Marion Smith Designs

"Bright Eyes" by Nadia Cannizzo

As we are still awaiting the printed collection, I had fun creating a 12x12 background by overlapping the printouts from my A4 printer. I used some Gesso, stamps and mists to "hide" the joints in the background.

I also really liked the blue in this collection and decided to use that as my main colour to contrast against the purple in the photo. But when I came back to look at the images of the collection on my computer, the blue looked a little more like a teal .. LOL My printer must have changed the colours slightly as it printed them out. Oh well ! Still looks OK I think :)

Here are the papers I used from the Nirvana collection

Oh the possibilities are endless and I have so many ideas in my head for the next project.

Keep an eye out for this collection shipping now. It is available at Amazon.com and some other retails for pre order , however the first couple of batches have sold out so please check with your retailer if they will stock this.

Make sure to visit the Marion Smith Designs blog HERE, where you will find more inspiration from the other DT members and updates on new products.

Bye for now :)

Now here is the layout I created..

The kit included gorgeous Fabscraps papers from the Shabbylicious collection, together with their die cuts which are the windows you can see in the background.

I then added some Prima Delight journalling tags, which were part of the kit as well and Prima flowers (also from the kit!Lucky me :) ), and finished the layout off with some Gelatos and a Kaisercraft background stamp from my stash.

Now, here is the sketch I designed for the September challenge with the journalling theme which I based this layout on..

Journalling Theme: "Lucky"

A Layout for Donna Salazar Designs

Hey everyone.

Here today to share with you my second project for Donna Salazar Designs for September. This is a layout I created using the Family Jeans collection!

"I love you" by Nadia Cannizzo

I LOVED the Houndstooth paper from the Family Jeans collection as my background and I really wanted to go for a grungy look. I think the Want2Scrap Corrugated cardboard really goes well together with the background but I decided to create a contrast by painting it white in some areas.

I totally ADORE the Clearsnap Smooch Spritz in Mixed Berries , which is the purple mist you can see and I added some more colour by using some purple flowers from my stash

And here is a close up of Donna's 8x8 Corrugated Cardboard for Want2Scrap which takes Gesso and any other mixed media mediums BEAUTIFULLY!

Peeking through is the Family Eyelet sheet. I tore open some areas of the Houndstooth paper to reveal just a peek of it.

Just behind the picture, I have used torn up pieces of Mixed Media Stax 2 papers, which I applied with Gel Medium and Gesso.

Art Journal Page Video Tutorial for Marion Smith Designs!

Hey everyone!

I am so excited to share with you today's project for Marion Smith Designs!!

I have been itching to try something new lately and I came across some art journals online and knew I had to give it a go. You see, I have said many times that I do not really have a thought process when I create.. i just work fast and am very impatient, so I just kind of do whatever. LOL! Having said that, of course it all somehow comes together with some techniques I have been using for a while and the reason an art journal appealed to me is because there are not many rules, it is personal in style and in what/how you express yourself in it and its quiet messy !

So here is my first art journal page I have created using some Nirvana papers. I have also created a video of my process and I am pretty sure you will gain a LOT of respect for me when I tell you that I created a sample page, set up the camera equipment and videotaped this page all in between my 3 month old daughter Sofia's 40 minute cat naps!!! LOL! Aaaand everything was edited and uploaded by that night!!
OK I had to share.. because THAT is a miracle. LOL!

OK OK enough talk.. here we go.. I decided to use a quote from the Pink Folder Page paper as my focus and my message on this page..

Here are some close ups and you will see how I created the background in my video...

Now here is my video.. hope you enjoy it and learn something new :) It is only the second time I have made a video so ... please forgive some errors :)

I would love for you to subscribe to my channel right HERE

I hope you enjoyed the video and learnt something new today :)
